# Connect an MCP client

## Before you start

* You're signed in to [agentic.anchorage.com](https://agentic.anchorage.com).
* You have an agent on the **Agents** page, with a budget.

## Steps

1. Open the **Agents** page and pick the tab for your client. Use **Other** for any client not listed. ChatGPT needs a paid ChatGPT plan.
2. Follow the tab's snippet to add the MCP endpoint to your client.
3. Your client opens a consent screen in your browser. Pick the agent this client should act as.
4. Approve, and follow the page you land on back to your client.

Every tool call from that client is attributed to the agent you picked, and every payment draws on its budget.

## Check the connection

Ask the agent what budgets it can spend from. Its answer includes its name, status, linked account, network, and budgets.

## Troubleshooting

* **The consent screen sent you to the organization picker.** Pick an organization and you return to the consent screen. If you took more than thirty minutes, start again from your client.
* **Your approval needs a change.** For example, the agent needs a spending cap when your organization has no organization-wide budget. The page says what to change, and **Back** returns you to the consent screen without restarting from your client.
* **A correct email code was rejected.** Repeated attempts are limited. Wait a moment and try again.
