# ACH debit transfer

> Set up ACH debit transfers as a platform, track debits through webhooks or polling, and file returns via API.

<Note>
  ACH is in development. The API endpoints and webhooks on this page are provided for reference and are subject to change. Reach out to your relationship manager for beta access. See [USD rails](/knowledge-base/platform/users/usd-banking#usd-rails).
</Note>

An ACH debit, also called an **unoriginated debit** or **pull**, moves USD out of your [USD wallet](/knowledge-base/platform/users/usd-banking) when an outside party pulls the funds over the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network. You don't start each payment; the outside party does. To send funds out yourself instead, see [ACH credit transfer](/knowledge-base/platform/developers/move-money/transfer/usd/ach/credit).

Common uses include:

* Payroll providers collecting payroll funding
* Tax payments to the IRS
* Recurring vendor payments

## Set up ACH debit transfers

<Steps>
  <Step title="Contact your relationship manager">
    Reach out to your relationship manager to set up ACH debit transfers as a platform. For how platforms structure accounts for their own clients, see [B2B2X](/knowledge-base/platform/developers/b2b2x).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Track debits">
    Subscribe to the `deposit.attributed` webhook. See [Webhooks](/knowledge-base/platform/developers/webhooks/webhooks-overview). You can also poll `GET /v2/transactions`, filtering on type `ACH` and direction debit out.
  </Step>

  <Step title="File returns programmatically">
    To return a debit, call `POST /ach-return`. This endpoint is in development. If you're registered as a platform that runs ACH debits for your clients, you're responsible for filing returns on their behalf. In that setup, Anchorage Digital doesn't file any returns automatically.

    The deadline to file a return depends on the ACH return code, ranging from 2 banking days for standard technical issues to 60 calendar days. The endpoint automatically rejects late or duplicate returns.
  </Step>
