# PROS staking

> Stake Pharos (PROS) to a validator pool, claim rewards, unstake, and collect.

Pharos is an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain secured by proof-of-stake. Holders of PROS, Pharos's native token, can earn rewards by delegating their stake to a validator pool that helps secure the network.

Staking PROS follows a delegation model: you delegate to a validator pool, rewards accrue separately and are claimed on demand, and unstaking begins a network unbonding period. Unlike some other assets, unstaked PROS doesn't return to your available balance on its own—once unbonding completes, you **Collect** it back to your wallet.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Pharos only supports unstaking your full position in a validator pool. To keep part of your PROS staked, unstake the full position, collect it once unbonding completes, then stake the amount you want again.

## Understanding your PROS balances

As your PROS moves through the staking lifecycle, it appears under different balance types in your wallet.

| Balance type | Description |
| - | - |
| **Available** | Your spendable PROS balance, which you can freely transfer or stake. |
| **Staked** | PROS that is actively delegated to a validator pool and earning rewards. |
| **Available to claim** | Rewards that have accrued from your staked PROS and are ready to claim. These are not spendable and do not compound until you claim them. |
| **Unstaking** | PROS that you have unstaked and that is moving through the network's unbonding period. It is no longer earning rewards and cannot be transferred until unbonding completes. |
| **Inactive stake** | PROS that has finished unbonding and is waiting for you to collect it back to your available balance. |

## How to stake

**1. Navigate to your wallet**

Tap the vault, select the **PROS** wallet, then tap **Stake**.

**2. Select a validator**

Select the Anchorage Digital validator from the dropdown, then tap **Next**.

To stake with a different validator, select **Custom address** and enter that validator's pool ID instead. Pharos identifies validators by a pool ID—a 64-character hexadecimal value that starts with `0x`. For reference, the Anchorage Digital validator's pool ID is `0xfec5ade567a6e95f9dd7d69b381d626efb60d26e34a7a471f916c2c608dad3db`.

The pool ID is checked against the live network before signing. A pool that doesn't exist, has disabled delegation, requires validator approval, is exiting, or is already at maximum capacity is rejected.

**3. Enter amount**

Enter the amount you wish to stake, then tap **Next**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Minimum stake amount is 1 PROS. Keep a small PROS balance available to cover transaction fees.

**4. Review and approve**

Optionally add a comment, then tap **Review** to approve. Once the operation's quorum policy is met, the operation is signed and broadcast on-chain.

After staking, your position shows `Staking in progress` until the next network epoch begins, then `Staked` once it's active and earning rewards. Pharos epochs last about 4 hours by default. View your positions under **View details** on the wallet screen.

## How to add to a stake or stake to another validator

Each wallet and validator pool pair is a separate staking position. Staking more to a pool you already use adds to that position, and staking to a new pool creates a new position.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You can't add to a position while a previous stake to the same pool is still pending. Wait for it to activate at the next epoch, then stake again.

**1. Navigate to staking details**

Go to the wallet screen and tap **View details**, then tap **Stake**.

**2. Select a validator and amount**

Select the Anchorage Digital validator from the dropdown, or select **Custom address** and enter another validator's pool ID. Enter the amount you wish to stake, then tap **Next**.

**3. Review and approve**

Optionally add a comment, then tap **Review** to approve. Once the operation's quorum policy is met, the operation is signed and broadcast on-chain.

## PROS rewards

Your staked PROS earns rewards for each validator pool you stake to, and they appear as an **Available to claim** balance.

Rewards don't auto-compound. To grow your position, claim your rewards and then stake them again. When you unstake a position, the network automatically includes that position's accrued rewards as part of the unstake.

## How to claim rewards

**1. Navigate to staking details**

Go to the wallet screen and tap **View details**.

**2. Select a position and claim**

Select the staking position you want to claim from, then tap **Claim Rewards**. The validator pool is pre-filled from the position, and claiming returns the full accrued rewards for that position.

**3. Review and approve**

Optionally add a comment, then tap **Review** to approve. Claiming rewards requires initiator approval only, so no quorum or risk review is needed. The rewards return to your wallet as `Available`.

## How to unstake

Unstaking always exits your full position in a validator pool. After you unstake, your PROS moves through the network's unbonding period, then becomes inactive stake that you can collect.

> [!NOTE]
>
> You can unstake only after your stake has activated. You can't unstake again from the same pool while a previous unstake is still unbonding or waiting to be collected.

**1. Navigate to staking details**

Go to the wallet screen and tap **View details**.

**2. Select a position and unstake**

Select the staking position you want to unstake from, then tap **Unstake**.

**3. Confirm the amount**

The amount is your full staked position in that pool. Tap **Next**.

**4. Review and approve**

Optionally add a comment, then tap **Review** to approve. Once the operation's quorum policy is met, the operation is signed and broadcast on-chain.

Your PROS begins an unbonding period of 84 epochs—about 14 days at the default epoch length—during which the position shows `Unstaking in progress`.

## How to collect unstaked PROS

On Pharos, unstaked PROS doesn't return to your available balance automatically. Once unbonding completes, collect it back to your wallet.

**1. Navigate to staking details**

Go to the wallet screen and tap **View details**.

**2. Collect inactive stake**

Select the position that has finished unbonding, then tap **Collect**. The amount is the full inactive stake for that pool.

**3. Review and approve**

Optionally add a comment, then tap **Review** to approve. Once the operation's quorum policy is met, the operation is signed and broadcast on-chain. Your PROS returns to your wallet as `Available`.

## Position statuses

| Stage | Status |
| - | - |
| After staking, until the next epoch begins | `Staking in progress` |
| Delegation active and earning rewards | `Staked` |
| Rewards accrued and ready to claim | `Available to claim` |
| After unstaking, during the 14-day unbonding period | `Unstaking in progress` |
| Unbonding complete, ready to collect | `Inactive stake` |
| After collect | `Available` |

## FAQ

* **Do I need to claim rewards?** Yes. PROS rewards don't auto-compound, so they stay in the **Available to claim** balance until you claim them or until you unstake the position, which includes them automatically.
* **Can I partially unstake?** No. Pharos only supports unstaking your full position in a validator pool.
* **Does my PROS return automatically after unbonding?** No. Once unbonding completes, [collect](#how-to-collect-unstaked-pros) your PROS to return it to your available balance.
* **Can I add to an existing stake?** Yes, once your previous stake to that pool has activated. Staking to a new validator pool creates a separate position.
* **Is there a minimum stake amount?** Yes. The minimum is 1 PROS per stake. Keep a small PROS balance available to cover transaction fees.
* **Can I move stake between validators (redelegate)?** No. To change validators, unstake the position, wait out the unbonding period, collect, then stake again to the new pool.
* **Can I stake to any Pharos validator?** You can stake to any active validator pool that accepts direct delegation. Pools that require validator approval aren't supported.
